Fuel Savings Study

SeaLand Completes 21,361 Mile Fuel Savings Long Haul Study

April, 2011 - we completed an over the road, long haul diesel truck study. The vehicle had over 440,000 miles on the engine and traveled fully loaded, coast to coast in the USA. Analysis was performed on the fuel savings with the use of the SeaLand's AFS-T for this study; 8.41% fuel savings was achieved. Analysis shows a 3 year Net Savings of $17,188* with a payback time of less than 1 year.

*based on a fuel price of $3.50 per gallon, annual miles of 158,400, 14 liter diesel engine

Results

The results show an 8.41% increase in MPG when measuring actual odometer miles traveled vs fuel used

Notes:

The Odometer readings were taken when the units were in for maintenance at the Miami facility

Truck 855 is a Peterbuilt Truck that holds a total of 180 gallons of diesel in its tanks

Trucks return to miami with 1/2 a tank of fuel to ensure they can make it to Jupiter before refueling

Trucks have a governor that locks the cruise control in at 69 MPH

Trucks allow the driver to only go to 71 MPH Manually

The test below was open road and open route test

The data that was monitored was actual gallons used and actual and computer miles traveled

The variables that could not be controlled were truck idle time on trips and driver behavior
